My name is Garrett Melby and I am a Crossover Capitalist, working in the white space between the traditional fields of capitalism and philanthropy. Public and private interests are not conflicting values in a zero sum equation and should not be viewed as either/or (e.g. “Either I will serve the people or serve myself.”) or if/then (e.g. “If I get rich, then I will become a philanthropist.”) propositions. Work in progress. I am working with our founders on a statement of GoodCompany’s vision and values. We are fortunate to have enough diversity of opinion among our leadership that we may need a few more conversations before we reach consensus on what is core to GCV and can release a manifesto.
